2 weeks, $24 million being spent at Nanaimo's Harmac mill

Within just two weeks, 800 contractors and workers are aiming to complete $24 million in updates at the Harmac pulp mill in Nanaimo, British Columbia.



The mill is down for its annual two week maintenance shutdown. The shutdown is scheduled to end on November 1st.



The updates are funded by the Canadian government's Pulp and Paper Green Transformation Program (PPGTP).



The improvements are aimed at improving the mill's energy efficiency and environmental performance.



The mill's 265 regular employees are among the 800 workers at the site.
