AbitibiBowater has sold its company owned golf course, and its surrounding park land to the town of Donnacona, Quebec for $352,000.
Some of the park land is zoned for residential development.
AbitibiBowater operated a paper mill, Donnacona Paper Ltd., in the town of 6,000 residents until it closed the mill in 2007.
AbitibiBowater has also sold 4 company-owned homes in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Quebec (200 miles north of Donnacona) where AbitibiBowater also owns a pulp mill. One of the homes sold for $225,000 and the other three for $100,000.
During AbitibiBowater's restructuring, the company has also sold 4 sculptures, and 14 paintings at Sotheby's auction house in Toronto for $363,000. More works of art will soon be placed on the market with hopes of attracting another $40,000.
