Ainsworth suing 100 Mile House over taxes

Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. has filed suit against the District of 100 Mile House as a protest against its taxes.

Ainsworth is claiming the tax rates are illegal because they are unreasonable and unsustainable. The District of 100 Mile House charges major industry $11 for every $1 paid in tax by residential property owners.

Ainsworth did pay all of their taxes for 2009, but the company claims their chunk of taxes makes up almost 25% of all taxes paid in the district.
