Forest fires are a big concern this weekend in British Columbia.

Just on Wednesday and Thursday, more than 240 fires ignited in the province. There is no end in sight to the hot, dry conditions.

Areas of concern:

  • Cariboo region (northwest of Kamloops) - many homes are evacuated, and more are on evacuation alert

  • Quesnel - 8 ranches northwest of Quesnel have been evacuated due to 3 fires burning around Pelican Lake

  • Highway 37 - closed due to fire 82 kilometres south of the Yukon border

  • Williams Lake - wildfire smoke advisory

  • Bonaparte Lake - eastern half of Bonaparte Lake is under an evacuation alert
