Mon 16 Nov 2009 07:44:55 PM EST

Cascades Canada Inc. is facing 2 more pollution related charges involving an incident in 2007 at its Trenton Norampac pulp and paper mill.

The Ontario Ministry of the Environment alleges the company discharged or allowed harmful black particulate contaminant into the environment in early February 2007. It's also alleged Cascades "failed to do everything practicable" to prevent harming the environment.

A spokesman for the company maintains it was another unfortunate accident.

Last month Cascades was fined more than $218,000 after pleading guilty to two of three charges related to the spillage of black liquor into the Trent River.
