Conifex buys AbitibiBowater's sawmill in Mackenzie, B.C.

Opinion 250 News is reporting that Conifex has purchased the AbitibiBowater sawmill and planer mill in Mackenzie, B.C.

Since last October, the mill has only been running 1 shift with an overnight maintenance crew. The workers have been instructed to clear through the existing inventory of logs in preparation for their new owner.

The employees are expecting to be laid off, after the inventory is processed, while the new owners take over.

Conifex bought the bankrupt Pope and Talbot mill in Ft. St. James two years ago.
