Kruger Inc. is cutting production at 2 Quebec mills.
440 employees will be laid off.
Kruger is indefinitely ceasing production of coated and supercalendered paper at its Trois-Rivieres mill in south-central Quebec. The mill will continue to produce newsprint maintaining jobs for close to 300 employees.
Kruger Inc. will no longer produce supercalendered paper at any of its facilities.
The other production cut is at its Wayagamack mill, also in also in Trois-Rivieres. Back in December Kruger announced a temporary production cut for the directory paper Wayagamack produces for phone books. That production cut has been extended until June. 120 employees are affected by the production halt. The Wayagamack mill will continue to produce coated paper keeping over 350 workers employed.
