Missing: $1.8 million of timber... And the ship carrying it.

Thu 13 Aug 2009 12:19:30 PM EDT

The cargo ship, the Arctic Sea, and the $1.8 million of timber that was on-board, has gone missing.

The ship was destined for Algeria from Finland, then was briefly hijacked off the coast of Sweden, then travelled through the English Channel... and then disappeared.

Was it stolen for its cargo of timber? Was it carrying a secret valuable shipment? Did it sink?

No one seems to know. The ship hasn't been seen since July 30th.

The ship was carrying a Russian crew of 15.
