Tolko Industries has won a court decision to allow the company to log in Browns Creek on the west side of Okanagan Lake.
But now Tolko will need to find an alternative route to the area.
The Okanagan Indian Band has decided that Tolko vehicles will not be allowed through their reserve. The Band claims they own the road, and feel Tolko has not addressed concerns about archeological assessments, and traffic on the Westside Road puts residents at risk.
Tolko is seeking advice from the provincial government on the legal status of Westside Road. Until the government provides direction on the issue, Tolko will endure delays and increased costs for the trucks and employees who need to reach the area.
