Are you a Domtar employee? What do you think of EACOM's purchase of Domtar's wood products division?

The community of Ear Falls, Ontario is excited about the news.

Their Domtar sawmill closed last fall, and the community is hopeful that the new owner will be restarting the Ear Falls operation.

"It's great news for the community," said Ear Falls Mayor Ron Bergman, "We'd been hearing rumours for some time about a possible sale. This is very positive."

It is not just the mill workers who would benefit from a restart, but also the forest operations around Ear Falls. Bergman said he'd heard that contracts for up to 500,000 cubic metres of round wood are in the offing.

That would support two or three harvesting operations, he said.
