AbitibiBowater marks 3 inactive sawmills in Quebec for sale

In hopes of someday emerging from bankruptcy protection, AbitibiBowater has put 3 inactive sawmills in Quebec up for sale.

The three sawmills are:

• Roberval
• Saint-Fulgence
• Lebel-sur-Quévillon

Because AbitibiBowater is operating under bankruptcy protection rules, any interested party will need to submit a formal bid. The court will approve any sale.

Pierre Choquette, company spokesman, said there are no immediate plans to close the mills for good if they don't sell within six weeks. He would not rule out, however, that they won't be closed.
