AbitibiBowater's latest numbers

AbitibiBowater's fourth quarter losses in 2009 were $314 million, compared to $1,433 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.

Sales decreased to $1,126 million from $1,617 in the fourth quarter of 2008. The decrease in sales was primarily due to the significantly lower transaction prices for newsprint, coated papers and specialty papers, as well as significantly lower shipments of newsprint, coated papers and specialty papers.

Over the full year of 2009, AbitibiBowater recorded $4.37 billion in sales, and a net loss of $1.55 billion.

Reorganization costs for 2009 tallied $639 million.

In 2009 AbitibiBowater had 12,100 employees, down from 15,900 in 2008.
