AbitibiBowater's company officials are talking to the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) about the possibility of a co-generation plant.
AbitibiBowater has a green-energy application filed with the OPA that would, if accepted, give the company the ability sell green power to Ontario from a condensing turbine.
AbitibiBowater is talking with a number of stakeholders as it prepares its operating platform for the local plant. Company officials have said that they need to get labour, supply and energy costs in order to complete such a platform.
The OPA recently passed on St. Marys Paper's proposal for a 35 MW multi-million-dollar cogeneration facility.
