Fire at Irving's mill in Saint John

Last night there was a fire on the roof of Irving's paper mill in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The fire started on the roof of the mill's thermal mechanical pulping area.

Part of the mill was evacuated while the firefighters faced the challenge of fighting a blaze on the roof.

It is not yet known what caused the fire. One Irving employee received medial attention from inhaling the dry chemicals used to fight the fire.

This is the second fire at the mill in the last week. Last week a small fire in the tissue plant caused a temporary evacuation of employees working in that area.
