The former Pope & Talbot/Worthington pulp mill in Mackenzie, British Columbia has had its restart date bumped up to August 1st - providing a fibre deal is in place.
Sinar Mas (parent company of Asia Pulp and Paper) is the new owner of the mill. One of their holding companies, Dutch-based Paper Excellence, is reported to invest about $30 million dollars to convert the mill's output to 100% NSBK (northern bleached softwood kraft) rather than a split with sawdust pulp so the company is able to focus on value-added papers.
