NewPage Corporation has posted a net quarterly loss of $6 million, compared to a larger net loss of $109 million in this year's first quarter, and $21 million in the second quarter of 2008.
Richard Willett Jr., the president and CEO of NewPage, said the company managed to cut its losses through reduced spending, temporary shutdowns of some of its mills and alternative fuel tax cuts.
As we learned in July, NewPage had received $112 million since the beginning 2009 from the U.S. black liquor tax rebate program.
