Northeastern Ontario worries about fate of Grant Forest Products

lun 26 oct 2009 14:00:48 EDT

Many people from Northeastern Ontario are worried that a foreign company will take over the ownership of Grant Forest Products and their large OSB mill in Englehart.

Grant Forest Products launched a restructuring process under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangements Act in June.

2 or 3 of the bidders who are interested in acquiring the company are large multi-national companies. One is rumoured to be Georgia-Pacific.

A court-appointed monitor is reviewing the bids and will then make a recommendation to the courts, with everything scheduled to be completed by December 1.
