All workers at Tembec's Pine Falls newsprint mill in Manitoba were called back to work a week earlier than expected.
"They got some new orders," Cam Sokoloski, president of Local 3-3175 of the United Steelworkers Union, said in an interview. "And everybody is back because we basically need the whole workforce back because we're a 24-7 (24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week) operation."
Tembec has not said how long the plant will run. The Pine Falls workers have been laid off four times this year for a total of 12 weeks. The longest plant shutdown was for six weeks in June and July.
